THE FIRST EPISTLE OF PETER

Worship through the Easter Season will ask in what way, if any, the Christian community is 'strangers in the homeland.'  Worship themes for Easter Season are being drawn largely from 1 Peter .  This epistle is written to 'exiles in the Dispersia', or in more modern idom, 'strangers in a land far from home.'  However, the letter is written to Gentile followers of Christ who, we suspect, are living in what was until very recently phyisically and spiritually their homeland.  What has changed for these Gentile converts such that they no longer feel comfortable in their own homeland and is it possible that we in America-a country very dependent upon a Christian heritage- could be 'strangers in the homeland?'
